Don: Taking Charge

In spite of effort
The pain problem persisted,
The next attempt to stave it off
Was simply to get up and walk,

Back and forth across the floor,
Brought great relief
But how to integrate the activity
And continue with my work?

Five minutes of pacing,
Then sat down at the computer
To accomplish some writing,
Before soon prompted to move again;

Thereby, working a little,
Walking a little,
Developing the habit
Of not letting the pain get in the way,

To be able to flow on,
Without objection,
Not getting blocked
And yet making progress,

Seeking a balance
Between compassionate relaxation
And purposeful effort
To complete my tasks,

This is the challenge
I have undertaken,
To find a way to be happy
Regardless of the situation,

My ongoing mission
To be fully here,
With whatever comes
And be joyful within it.
