The Long Road

Well, it's been a long time since I have attempted to post anything on here.  Let's see if I can do it now...

On Friday, June 26, 2015, late in the evening, I had just settled down to listen to an audiobook, when I noticed that my old computer with my old software that would not work on here was making funny noises.  When I stopped the CD and restarted the system, I received the warning that my hard drive was about to fail, within days, if not hours.  And so, I began frantically burning documents to CD.  Fortunately, my backups were fairly up to date.  Thus, I was able to make at least one current copy of nearly everything new before the final disaster struck.  When, in spite of repeated efforts, I was unable to recover, I then had to see if I could get one of my other old machines to work.  This one seems to be working for now (more or less) and has a more recent operating system, one that appears to be able to cope with a browser that is sufficiently recent for me to get in here, although it's very slow going.  Anyhow, if this post works, I think I will also try to add the one for August 7, 2012 and see what happens.  If not, well then, I guess you won't be seeing either of these.

So, here goes...

P.S. More to come?  Possibly, although most likely, glacially slowly I'm afraid, at least for now.
