Working by flashlight
Because my head aches
Too much for the overhead lamps,
As the weather sea-saws
In a spring/summer dance;
My eyes are swollen
And my sinuses stuffed
And I’m so dizzy
I can barely stand up!
But lying down
Just dampens my mood further,
So it’s better to work
On something diverting;
This storm will pass,
Whether I attend or not;
This problem has no solution,
So I endeavour to ignore it.
Calmly I await
While plodding steadily,
Wading through each chore,
One at a time,
Thoroughly absorbed,
Forgetting the background,
Concentrated
On every job done;
Pausing only to consider
What comes next,
Before plunging into action,
Embracing the distraction.
How wondrous to move,
How blessed to feel;
Mesmerizing motion,
Magical sensation.
